DebtResolutionSupport.com is free to read. This page explains how the site pays for itself and how that money does and doesn’t affect what you read here.
The short version
- We are an independent information site. We are not a debt relief company, lender, law firm or credit counselor.
- Some links on this site go to companies that offer debt relief and related services (“partners”). We may be paid when you click one of those links or contact a partner.
- Every paid placement is labeled Sponsored or Advertisement before you click.
- You never pay us anything, and using a partner’s link doesn’t change the price or terms a partner offers you.
How we get paid
We work with affiliate networks, currently B2Direct and Madrivo, that connect publishers like us with companies offering debt relief programs. When you click a sponsored link, the network records that the visit came from us. If you then contact the partner or sign up for its program, we may receive a fee. Some partners pay for the click or the contact itself, whether or not you go ahead.
When you click a sponsored link, it passes through a short redirect on our site (an address starting with /go/) so we can count clicks. The partner receives a short reference code that says which of our pages and which spot on the page the click came from, for example drs_142_mid. It contains no information about you.
What payments don’t change
- What we write. Articles explain options the way we believe is accurate, including free and low-cost alternatives such as nonprofit credit counseling, budgeting help and talking to an attorney, which don’t pay us anything.
- The risks we describe. When we discuss debt settlement or debt relief programs, we explain that results aren’t guaranteed, that programs charge fees, that stopping payments can damage your credit and lead to collection calls or lawsuits, and that forgiven debt may be taxable.
- What partners may say. Offer headlines and descriptions on our site come only from each partner’s approved advertising copy. We don’t let ads look like news or articles.
How to recognize sponsored content
- Offer boxes inside articles carry a “Sponsored” label next to the partner’s name.
- Partner pages (addresses starting with
/partner/) say “Advertisement / Sponsored” at the top, list who the program is for and include a “Before you decide” box. They are kept out of search engines. - Every article starts with this line: “We may earn a commission when you click links on this page.”
- Our newsletter may include clearly labeled offers from partners.
Before you sign up with any company
A partner decides whether you qualify and what its program costs. Read its terms carefully, never pay fees before a debt is actually settled, and compare free options first. Our guides explain how to do that.
